Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology was established in 1956 through a brilliant and futuristic between the then State of PEPSU (Patiala and East Punjab States Union), the Central Government and the Patiala Technical Education Trust (PTET) founded by one of the great captains of Indian Industry, the late Lala Karam Chand Thapar. Eligibility criteria:

Admission to BE/BTech programs shall be conducted through two modes.
Applicants are required to fill application form one time only and on the basis of a single application form, they can seek admission through any mode, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria. In the final round of counselling, any seat remaining vacant through Mode-1 shall be filled through Mode-2 and vice versa.

2	50% of the total BE/BTech seats shall be filled on the basis of merit of marks secured in 10+2 or equivalent examination in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject	The candidate -has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject. -has appeared in JEE Main – 2023. -possesses a good moral character. is a citizen of India. -has passed 10+2 examination in 2021, 2022 or appearing in 2023.

Fee Structure:

The fee payable on admission is Rs.23,000 as one time fee. The tuition fee varies for different BE programmes. Total fee Rs. 2,38,600 (Tuition fee Rs.1,70,600, development fee Rs.57,000, student activity and welfare charges Rs.7,500. Exam charges Rs.3000, medical and insurance charges Rs.500)
