IISER Tirupati is the sixth Institute in the chain of IISERs established by the Govt. of India under the Ministry of Education for imparting quality education in basic sciences and for setting up state-of-the-art research facilities for frontline and cutting-edge research in science. Academic activity at IISER Tirupati commenced in August 2015 in the spacious transit campus located at Sree Rama Engineering College, Rami Reddy Nagar, Karakambadi Road, Tirupati.
The permanent campus of IISER Tirupati is coming up at Srinivasapuram and Panguru village of Yerpedu mandal, on the Yerupedu -Venkatagiri road. IIT Tirupati is also located 3 kms apart on this road. The establishment of IISER and IIT in Tirupati paves the way for a unique synergy of two premier educational institutes in the country.
IISER Tirupati is having facilities in the Transit Campus for senior students of BS-MS and for I.PhD and PhD and hostels in the permanent campus for BS-MS students. At present seats are available on twin sharing/ triple sharing basis in Transit Campus and Permanent Campus. The building has 4 floors. Each floor has 46 rooms (in total 184). All rooms are equipped with furniture (i.e., cot, mattress, study tables, chairs, pedestals, and almirahs). Drinking water and washing machine facilities are provided on each floor. All bathrooms are connected with hot water facility for bathing purpose. In the ground floor, we have a gym, a room for music practice and indoor games, well-furnished study room, a TV Hall, a wellness clinic, a modern kitchen and a spacious dining hall.
The campus has health centre, gymnasium, various sports facilities within the campus. Several student activities like Bio-Wissen is a platform for bio enthusiasts to participate in active discussions and presentations on different topics in biology-related areas. ‘Dhwani’ is the college magazine of IISER Tirupati. It provides all the members on campus with a platform to voice their thoughts and let their imagination run free. student clubs are functional like quiz, movie, astronomy, literature, sports, arts, creative filming, birding, Unnati, physics, maths and photography.
