Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee IIIT-Naya Raipur, established by the International Institute of Information Technology University Act, 2013 of the Government of Chhattisgarh, is a joint venture of Chhattisgarh State Government and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). The institute is committed to pursue excellence in higher education, research and development in Information Technology (IT) and associated disciplines. It firmly believes in bestowing knowledge dissemination and imparting entrepreneurial skills to the students to enable them to address real-world problems. To empower this vision, IIIT-NR provides state-of-the-art research and education facilities and nurtures a campus culture that fosters high energy and enthusiasm in every individual, clubbed with the highest standard of professionalism.
The vibrant lush green residential campus of IIIT-NR is spread over in 50 acres in the newly developed smart city of Atal Nagar, approximately 23 kms from the city of Raipur. It has separate hostels for boys and girls with Wi-Fi connectivity, Gym with modern equipment, CCTV surveillance, hi tech security measures and excellent amenities for indoor games like badminton. For outdoor games two volleyball courts and one football cum cricket ground is available. A basketball court is also under construction. Two table-tennis tables are also available in the multi-purpose hall and other recreational activities. The modern architecture of the buildings and the serene environment of the campus fosters an ambience for the students for creativity and innovation. The classrooms are equipped with state-of-the art technologies for teaching and learning.
SAC is a student body established in the year 2018 that aims to support, develop and promote student activities at IIIT Naya Raipur. The technical clubs related to coding, hacking, problem solving, machine learning, circuits etc., promote hands-on and cooperative learning and also engages students in problem-solving and higher-order thinking. They conduct various events and provide networking opportunities through hackathons, contests, workshops, seminars, conventions, and teaching sessions. Cultural clubs related to music, dance, photography, debate, poetry, drama etc., provide a way for students to explore and engage in activities outside their academic studies. These clubs can foster a sense of community and belonging, which can be especially important for students in technical fields who may spend much time working independently.
Fenestra’. The magazine published by the institute acts as a window for all occasions, activities, triumphs and celebrations in the institute. From events to achievements in every field, it renders a full-fledged idea of IIIT-NR and its culture. IIIT-NR will leverage its experience in working with NTPC to forge more such partnerships with PSUs and private industry in the country going forward.
