IIITD was created in 2008 as a state university by an Act of Govt. of NCT of Delhi (vide Delhi Act 5 of 2008) empowering it to do research and development, conduct educational programmes and grant degrees. Since then, it has gained a high degree of respect within the academic community, and is widely regarded as one of the top Institutions in the country for research and education in IT. IIIT-Delhi is committed to playing a scientific leadership role by creating new knowledge, defining the future of IT and allied areas, preparing leaders for tomorrow, and making a tangible impact for the betterment of society.
IIIT-Delhi has six academic departments – Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computational Biology, Human-centered Design, Mathematics, and Social Sciences & Humanities. Its research centres include the Infosys Centre for Artificial Intelligence, Centre for Design and New Media, Centre of Technology in Policing, Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Mobility, Centre of Excellence for Light Fidelity, Centre of Excellence in Healthcare, DataKart Centre of Excellence, Centre for Quantum Technologies and centre of excellence in human computing.
IIIT-Delhi has set up a Technology Innovation Hub under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical Systems to catalyse state-of-the-art research, technology transfers, industry engagement, and entrepreneurial activities. IIIT-Delhi is also a part of the Delhi Science and Technology cluster and addresses some of the hyperlocal problems through research. The Institute has a healthy innovation ecosystem leading to entrepreneurship. The IIITD-Incubation Centre is instrumental in driving the growth of entrepreneurial activities at the IIIT-D campus, which includes providing incubation support, funding, infrastructure, mentoring, etc., to students, faculty members, alumni of the Institute, and other entrepreneurs working on technology start-ups. Funds from DST, MEITY, and the Delhi Government supports the Incubation Centre. IIIT-D is committed to Sustainable Development Goals. In support of the agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development Goals, the Institute hosts an Annual Conclave. The aim is to create a public platform facilitating discussion on the use of information technology for the sustainable development of the National Capital Region (NCR).
B.Tech. Admissions 2023 to various programs of IIITD will be done through Joint Admission Counselling, JAC-Delhi, and through IIITD admission process using UCEED rank (Only for some seats in Computer Science and Design (CSD) and Class XII Marks (Only for some seats in Computer Sciences and Social Sciences (CSSS). Admissions for foreign nationals/PIOs/NRIs will be through DASA and directly through IIITD process.
1. JEE Mode of Admission through Joint Admission Counselling (JAC)-Delhi
What is JAC-Delhi? Joint Admission Committee (JAC) for counselling and admission to Undergraduate Programmes in premier Delhi Government funded universities, offering Engineering, Architecture and Management programmes started in the year 2014, as an initiative of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi, to avoid multiple admission counselling and save the candidates and their guardian from the resulting inconvenience because of shifting of students from one institution to the other during the admission process. This year, Delhi Technological University (DTU) offers 4 Year BTech, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) offers 4 Year BTech, 5 Year BArch, 6 year Dual degree BTech (MAE) and MBA, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIITD) offers 4 Year BTech, Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT) offers 4 year BTech and 5 Year BArch and Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) offers 4 year BTech are participating in JAC which is being conducted online with the support of the National Informatics Centre (NIC). The admissions are done on the basis of rank of students in Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). 85% seats in all the participating institutions are earmarked for Resident Indian Nationals belonging to Delhi region (A candidate passing the qualifying examination from a recognized School / College / Institute located within the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi will be considered for Delhi Region only) while the rest 15% seats are earmarked for Resident Indian Nationals belonging to outside Delhi region (A candidate passing the qualifying examination from a recognized School / College / Institute located outside the National Capital Territory of Delhi will be considered for Outside Delhi Region only). The qualifying examination for admission to all the programmes offered by the participating Universities / Institute will be any one of the following: (i) Senior School Certificate Examination (12-year 10+2 course) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. (ii) Indian School Certificate Examination (12-year 10+2 course) of the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi. (iii) Any other examination recognized as equivalent to the Senior School Certificate Examination of the CBSE. Note: Candidates who have appeared at the annual examination in the year 2024 and have been placed in compartment (supplementary) will not be eligible for admission for the year 2024. |

Eligibility Criteria:
For General category, candidate who has secured 70% or more marks in the aggregate of best of five subjects including Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics subject to 70% or more marks in Mathematics in the qualifying examination from CBSC board or equivalent.
For candidates belonging to various reserved categories, namely, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and sub-categories, namely, Defence, Persons with Disabilities, who apply for seats reserved for them, the minimum marks criteria in qualifying examination are Other Backward Class (OBC-NCL): 65%. (ii) Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST): 60%. (iii) Defence (CW): 65%. (iv) Persons with Disabilities (PD): 65%. There is no marks relaxation for EWS category candidates in any of the participating institutes/universities.

Fee Structure:
Tuition Fee for the General candidates of BTech Program for Academic year is Rs. 4,50,000 (Each semester Rs. 2,25,000)
Rs.12,000/- is paid in addition to the tuition fee during admission and is applicable only for student taking admission in AY 2023-24. [Rs. 10,000 Security Money (Refundable) + Rs. 2,000 Alumni Fee (Non-Refundable)]: Alumni fee is refundable in case student is leaving the Institute before completing the program.
For Hostellers, there will be hostel security deposit of Rs.10,000 to be collected at the time of admission. For Accommodation single occupancy Rs. 42,500 charges per semester and Rs. 32,000 charges for double occupancy. In addition, mess charges 3,350 per month.
