Indian Institute of Information Technology Senapati Manipur (IIIT Manipur) was established by the act of parliament, government of India as an Institute of National Importance and is functional since 2015 at Mantripukhri, imphal (near new secretariat). The Institute is governed by a Board of Governors consisting of distinguished academicians, industry leaders and senior government officials. Additionally, IIT Guwahati was the mentor institution for IIIT Senapati Manipur. The institute is enabling Manipur to gear up for providing Information Technology related services as well as high-quality R&D in Information Technology.
The Institute is presently operational from its own City campus located at Mantripukhri. The campus is well equipped with smart classrooms, state-of-art laboratories for both CSE and ECE, computer centre, conference hall, auditorium, playground, hostels, faculty quarters, guest house and own administrative offices. The excellent student-faculty ratio enables 360-degree technical supervision and personal development of each student. To contribute to Human Resource development of its neighbouring countries, IIIT Manipur will be looking for opportunities to spread IT education to countries in south-east Asia by providing required facilities to students of that country to study in IIIT Manipur through bi-lateral agreements.
The institute has a vision of establishing itself as an Institution of excellence in Cyber Security, Cyber Crime and Forensic so that human resource from IIIT Manipur will be prepared to face this growing global threat. It also envisages itself for achieving excellence in application of robotics facilitating human life to overcome congenital as well as acquired disabilities.
IIIT Senapati, Manipur provides gaming opportunities like table tennis, badminton, volleyball, football etc. Co-curricular activities are an integral part of a student’s life in IIIT Manipur. A Students’ Gymkhana Council co-ordinates student activities under different boards. Faculty advisors assist the Student Body. Currently, there are five different boards and different clubs are functioning under the respective boards. Technical Board: Coding Club, Robotics Club, Innovation Club, Idea Club, Start-up Club.
The Institute has the Sports Section with Sports Board. Its main objective is to develop an all-round personality of the students as well as inculcate values like team work, coordination and leadership while exploring talents. The institute provides Yoga classes for the students and Staff. It works to spread awareness among individuals for better management of life. The institute encourage students to take part in various inter IIIT/institutes sports events, so as to cater the need of performance outside the campus premises on which our students perform at par with other institutes. The students of IIIT Manipur came up victory in the past inter IIIT sports meet held at IIIT Allahabad in 2019 and IIITDM Kanchipuram in 2017, “SPIRIT” held at IIT Guwahati in 2016 and 2017.
IIIT Manipur provides platform to nourish the cultural activities of the students. The Institute has the Cultural Section with Cultural Board. The Cultural Board organizes Ek-Bharat Shreshtha-Bharat programme to enhance interaction & promote mutual understanding between people of different states/UTs through the concept of state/UT pairing. Institute organizes various timely cultural programs/ competitions/ events as the part of its Students Gymkhana Council activity. The institute’s auditorium is equipped with the modern audio-visual equipment to cater the need of various cultural activities.
