To address the challenges faced by the Indian IT industry and growth of the domestic IT market, the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India intends to establish twenty Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT), on a Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) basis. The partners in setting up the IIITs would be the MoE, Governments of the respective States where each IIIT will be established, and the industry. On the same line INDIAN INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY BHOPAL (IIIT-Bhopal) is newly established Educational Institute by the Ministry of Education, Government of India and few industry partners as Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership (N-PPP) Institution. The industry Partner of IIIT Bhopal is, Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV, Bhopal M.P.). The capital cost of IIIT Bhopal to be contributed in the ratio of 50:35:15 by the Government of India, Government of Madhya Pradesh and third partners respectively. Approximately 60 acres Land has been identified at Bhopal for setting up the permanent campus of the institute.
At present, IIIT-Bhopal is operating from its make shift campus at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal, till the time its new campus is made operational at Bhopal. IIIT Bhopal provides excellent hostels to all its girls and first year boys in Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal. Hostels have all the basic amenities that students need, such as gym, vegetarian mess, spacious open grounds, hot water during winters etc. Hostel co-ordinators, appointed by the students among themselves, get to decide the mess menu and look after the systematic functioning of the hostels, which eradicates any problems faced by the hostellers. Students residing in hostels also celebrate various functions on a small scale, like Birthday parties, dusshera, holi, New Year etc. To ensure maximum privacy, all first-year boys are provided single rooms.
Currently, the facilities of Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal are being shared with the students of IIIT Bhopal, which includes Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Carom, Chess, Kabaddi courts, Gymnasium and the enormous Sports Complex. Some of the recently developed indoor game facilities at IIIT Bhopal are Table Tennis, Carom, Chess, etc. Recently IIIT-Bhopal hosted its first sports fest, Sporlumina. Different clubs and committees are working to help students achieve their true potential. They are codeme, Kratigence, pikazo, google developer, GUC-GNU/Linux users club, kalpavriksha and inspire forum.
The Internship Program at IIIT Bhopal offers students the opportunity to explore a variety of career paths by learning about their interests, skills, strengths, and values. Our students are encouraged to complete as many as two to four internships throughout their academic programme.
