Atal Bihari Vajpayee-Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (ABV-IIITM), Gwalior is an autonomous institute set by Government of India, Ministry of Education (erstwhile Ministry of Human Resource Development), in 1997, now it is an Institute of National Importance enacted by Parliament from December 2014. It is an effort by MHRD (now MoE) towards creating professionals in areas of management and information technology from the same institute. This institute was created for facilitating higher education, research, and consultancy in areas of information technology (IT) and business management. Initially started as IIITM, this institute was prefixed with ABV in 2002 to honour the then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.
ABV-IIITM, Gwalior is an institute committed to taking academics to unprecedented levels of brilliance and efficiency. In this generation of excellence and specialization we aim at achieving an education standard that is comparable to the best globally. Academics at our institute are focussed on advancement of knowledge and systematic understanding of course materials and their application areas. With our vision of “Global Excellence in Knowledge Economy” we are committed to foster an academic environment of quality in areas of teaching and research. Our stress is not just on academic brilliance but knowledge that is pervasive in areas of emerging technologies and concurrent business processes. We through our learning and research programs aim at building an information technology and commercial infrastructure whose benefits percolate even to grass root levels.
ABV-IIITM being a premier institute of higher studies in information technology (IT) and Business Administration has never compromised on the quality of its education or grooming of its students. This institute has constantly striven for synchronizing emerging technologies with co-occurrent business solutions. Scholars passing out of this institute are confident of overcoming the toughest challenges in areas of IT and management.
Together with academics, the sports are given adequate importance at ABV-IIITM. To encourage sporting activities, we have a full-fledged complex, and also games facilities in each of the students’ hostels. We believe it is essential to remain physically fit and alert together with mental sharpness. In addition to a proper infrastructure several sporting events are held throughout the year to keep students bodily engaged.
Urja– This is an intra-institute sport event. Spread over three days during February/ March, learners are encouraged to participate in this event at least in the form of a spectator. Athletes are always inspired by the presence of a team of supporters. Urja not only tests one’s physical abilities in track and field events but also offers an opportunity for creating a familial bond among different members of learners.
Twaran– It is an inter IIITM athletics meet also held around February/ March every year. Students from four IIITMs in Allahabad, Jabalpur, Kanchipuram, and Gwalior take part in this track and field competition with zeal and enthusiasm. In addition to sporting glories achieved, Twaran provides a platform for interacting with III-Tians across India.
ABV-IIITM encourages its students to participate in cultural events and activities with equal enthusiasm as academics. This institute is an active participant of SPIC MACAY, an endeavour of Government of Madhya Pradesh for promoting classical performance art forms like music, dance, and drama. Cultural groups and celebrity performers from across India are invited tto perform in SPIC MACAY. Music, Arts and Dramatics club of this institute also organizes events of smaller scale throughout the year for inspiring talents of this institute.
Aurora- This is a cultural festival held over a period of three days in the month of February/ March. Aurora should not be looked upon just as a cultural event but an attempt to promote friendship, teamwork, and alliances. It is an opportunity to exhibit your talents to members of your community and visitors. Participants are invited from academic institutes across India and even abroad to join in this cultural extravaganza.
ABV-IIITM in its continuous efforts to recognize excellence in areas of technology and management among its scholars organises ‘Infotsav’ every year in October/November. Participants are invited form leading technological and management institutes of this country, while premier industrial and business houses sponsor this event. Awards are in the form of prize money and recognition.
HIQ – High Intelligence Quotient is an institute’s initiative to encourage innovative knowledge amongst its learners. We at ABV-IIITM believe that every dream could be achieved if it is purposeful and feasible. We celebrate creative thoughts and knowledge among students through interactive sessions, classroom lectures and quiz rounds. Initiated in 2001 this is one of the more successful endeavours of this institute.
