Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya was founded on March 4, 1902 by Swami Shraddhanandji with the sole aim to revive the ancient Indian Gurukula System of education, on the bank of holy Ganges at a distance of about 6 km. from Haridwar and about 200 km from Delhi. This institution was established with the objective of providing an indigenous alternative to Lord Macaulay’s education policy by imparting education in the areas of Vedic literature, Indian philosophy, Indian culture, modern sciences and research. It is a deemed to be university fully funded by UGC/Govt. of India.
Vishwavidyalaya is accredited by National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) and all B.Tech. programs are AICTE approved.
Faculty of Engineering & Technology was established with a view to provide technical education in surroundings of spiritual and Gurukula system of education. Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar is known in India and abroad for the process of character building of the students through their moral and physical development. Keeping the same ideals in mind, management of the Vishwavidyalaya felt the need of technocrats with strong moral character, superior knowledge, who can serve the nation during this era of transition from materialism to a balance of materialism and spiritualism. At present it is running B.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET) is accredited with TCS and major companies like Infosys, Adobe, Tech. Mahindra, HCL, Mahindra Satyam, J.K.Technosoft, Infogain have recruited our students.
Local chapter of NPTEL and Indian Science Congress functions in Engineering premises and provide a base to enhance the skills of students.
Sufficient number of laboratories with all required equipment are available for students for their learning and project work. Wi-Fi campus. Sports and Gym are available at campus. The student accommodation is a “home away from home”. Hostels in the main campus with all facilities for study and recreation. Gurukula runs buses for transporting students from hostel to campus. It’s a diverse community of students at Gurukula Kangri University, and the activities on offer are as diverse and varied too. From entertainment to extra-curricular or even religious pursuits, there’s never a dull moment on campus.
Several clubs are active on the Gurukula Kangri university campus, initiated by enthusiastic students. The Robotics Club, Technodium Club and Google Students Developers club. These clubs provide an opportunity to students to participate in various activities for their overall development. Other than studies various other activities are carried over throughout the year like cricket tournament, GPL, ESL, Runn, badminton tournament etc. Start of day with Yagna, which we think the most important part of this institution, helps students to develop human values in them. Jnanagni, a technical festival, which is being conducted every year to explore and listen to your heart, to take out all the abilities and to search yourself. This is an event which helps students to learn and lead. It is completely operated by students.
