National Institute of Technology, Warangal

NIT Warangal (formerly known as Regional Engineering College) was established in 1959, the first in the chain of 31 NITs (formerly known as RECs) in the country. It is an Institute of National Importance and fully funded by Government of India. It has a self-contained residential campus located in a beautiful wooded land of about 248 acres.

The exquisite and intricate architecture of Ramappa, Thousand Pillar Temple, Bhadrakali Temple and Lake, and the Warangal Fort have been the centre of attraction. Lovely gardens, lakes and rocks in vicinity are the other places of interest for students.

The Institute is well known for its dedicated faculty, staff and the state-of-the art infrastructure conducive to a healthy academic environment. Ever since the inception, the Institute is constantly striving to achieve higher levels of technical excellence. Evolving a socially relevant and yet internationally acceptable curriculum, implementing innovative and effective teaching methodologies and focusing on the wholesome development of the students are our concerns. Many developmental activities were undertaken with the financial assistance from UNESCO, UK and the World Bank Assistance under Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP). The Institute hosts Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) with the funding from Government of India to train the faculty of Engineering Institutes in enhancing the teaching- learning process. The Institute also hosts E&ICT academy to train the faculty in the areas of electronics and computer science.

N.I.T., Warangal is a residential institute with nearly 7000 students (UG, PG and Ph.D) students. It is a residential campus with all the basic facilities for both the students and staff to live on the campus.  It has 16 residential blocks including one mega & one ultra-mega hostel for boys, three hostels for girls and one hostel for foreign students.  The hostels in the Institute can accommodate about 5500 students. It has nearly 300 teaching staff and 350 administrative and supporting staff. Central Library, Auditorium, Student Activity Centre, Computer Centre, Central Workshops, Indoor Games Complex, Stadium, Seminar Halls with required infrastructure, Health Centre with state of art of facilities, etc. The Institute is provided with Wi-Fi facility.

It has excellent infrastructure facilities for both outdoor and indoor games and sports. The outdoor games include Volley Ball, Foot Ball, Cricket, Tennis, Ball Badminton, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Hand Ball, Hockey, Tennikoit, Basket Ball (concrete) and Tennis. Flood Light facility is provided to all the outdoor games. The sports ground accommodates a 400m standard track, an excellent pavilion and facilities for all athletic events.

Technozion and Spring Spree are the annual events conducted encouraging the students from all over India participating and showcasing their hidden talents in technical as well as cultural skills. To encourage co-curricular activities, there are several student clubs with each club having its faculty advisor like dance and dramatics.
