The Central University of Rajasthan (CURAJ) has been established by an Act of Parliament (Act No. 25 of 2009) as a new Central University, and is fully funded by the Government of India. The President of India, His Excellency Shri Ram Nath Kovind, is the Visitor of the CURAJ. CURAJ is located in Ajmer district of Rajasthan. In order to meet the challenges of the knowledge era and to keep pace with the knowledge explosion in Higher Education, the Central University of Rajasthan is committed to inculcating and sustaining quality in all the dimensions of Higher Education viz. teaching, learning, research, extension and governance while catering to the regional and global needs.
The university has 12 schools with 32 different departments offering academic and research programmes in technology, science, humanities, science, commerce, management, public policy.
CURAJ offers Undergraduate, 50+ Masters and PhD programmes in its 32 departments. Central University of Rajasthan was ranked in the 151–200 band by the NIRF universities ranking of 2023.
The University operates from its permanent campus of 550 (approx.) acres and it has adequate hostels housing nearly 2000 students in the campus, football ground, a cricket ground, two basketball courts, two volleyball grounds and many fields for various other sports. In the last 15 years of its journey, the University has emerged as a green and pollution-free campus which promises to provide an aesthetic and salubrious environment to nurture and optimize academics, research, and holistic development by engaging the students and staff members in various sports and cultural activities that are crucial for maintaining the well-being of the students and nurturing their potentials.
Besides academics, a range of societies and clubs exist for students like the film club, the music club, the dance club, the photography club known as the Lenswala. The annual cultural fest is known as Marukriti. Some of the annual fests of the concerned departments and student societies are Math Earth, the Economania, Impresario and Myriad Hues. The university’s students also participate in regional and national level inter-university fests and competitions.
